Their cut and construction are based on a pair that belonged to a soldier posted to West Africa in the 1950s. He wore them to play polo. Years later they were worn by his daughter on the beach. Over half a century on, that same pair are worn by her son just because. He founded Auld Friend in 2018.
And so the journey to creating our jodhpurs began. A pattern cutter in London traced over the original pair to create a pattern which evolved as we refined the shape and sampled different materials and fabrics, all found in the UK. The final step was to find a factory to make them. And so we did – in the north of England.
